Mobi Dixon Changes Lanes

Mobi Dixon, announces his Top Chap Medialabel joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment Africa. Mobi Dixon’spassion and mission is to unearth new talent across the country, as is evident with the label’s roster of developing artists.

“it’s really exciting to team up with Sony Music Africa on this venture. They have been a part of my story for the past three years, and I have seen great success – through accolades and sales – since I joined them. So it is with great pleasure that I extend this relationship by pursuing a joint venture with Sony Music. I look forward to a bright future!”

With an array of hits, which includes the likes of City Rains, Trigger, Love Colour Spin, Mixed Up Chick, Bhutiza and Abantu, the hard working DJ/Producer can either be found in the studio cooking up more magic, or on the road performing to thousands of fans. It is impressive that with his hectic schedule, he still found the time to scout and groom the artists signed to Top Chap Media.

I have been working on my label, Top Chap Media, for a while now. I had a label before I was successful, that did not work out, but I always wanted to bring it back once I had built the Mobi Dixon brand and established myself as an accomplished DJ/Producer. The company aims to develop artists, that we have been grooming over the past two years, present them to the country and give them long, fulfilling careers.”

The critically acclaimed DJ/producer scoured the country for talent and plans to release music for the following artists this year:

  • Blomzit Avenue, a DJ/Producer from East London who does tropical house
  • Nombila, a vocalist from the Transkei who sings urban afro-soul
  • T-Love, a DJ/Producer from Port Elizabeth who does mainstream afro-house
  • Kingwave, who represents the underground with his deep soul beats
  • Kissbeats, a Congolese born singer, songwriter from Pretoria

“I receive a lot of demos from people that see, and want to be a part of, the movement. Funny enough, none of these signings came from demos I have received, they were all handpicked. It was a natural progression for them to join the movement and be signed under the label.”

The first single from the label comes from tropical house DJ, Blomzit Avenue, features label mate Nombila, and is titled Changing Lanes. The single expresses how everyone wants to live a lavish life but we need to wake up, hustle and make the money that will change lives.
