Top 10 Family & Career Highlights You Might Not Know About DJ Fresh In 2019 – DJ Fresh is one of Botswana’s most successful artist and his career has thrived for more than 30 years in South Africa.

He has successfully infiltrated the radio and presenting scenery while maintaining being a husband and a father.

  1. DJ Fresh was born on the 15th of October 1972 in Bostwana. The DJs real name is Thato Sikwane.

2. When he was 13-years-old, his parents sent him to boarding school and following attending high school, the DJ advanced his education in Law in Botswana where he deliberately failed. After flunking out of University.

3. He travelled to South Africa in the early ’90s and in 1997, he elevated to stardom from his first break as a radio host on South Africa’s Youth radio station, YFM.  When he left YFM, he joined 5FM in 2006 making him the first black person to host the drive time show on the predominately white radio station.

4. Throughout his illustrious career, DJ Fresh has released a total of 32 albums. 

5. DJ Fresh has been married to his wife, Thabiso for more than 15-years, although the couple keeps their relationship out of the spotlight, they still going strong.

6. DJ Fresh is a father to four children: a 20 something-year-old from a previous relationship, a son of 14, daughter of eight and a two-year-old son. DJ Fresh is also a grandfather with two grandkids.

7. Fresh’s arrival at Metro FM Breakfast cames on the back of Unathi & co-host, Glen Lewis, departure happened after 22 years at the station in 2017.

8. Fresh and Lalla replaced Kabelo Mabalane as judges and Ian von Memerty in SA’s Got Talent in 2014.

9. He is also a member of DJU, a team of leading South African deejays, musicians, producers and media personalities and owns his own T-shirt and merchandise range. He has a company called Big Dawg Productions.

10. DJ Fresh’s used the word “msunery” in response to a listener’s comments during an interview with Khanya Mkangisa on May the 20th. He has been since suspended from His Metro Fm – FreshBreakfastShow.

“Msunery” is taken from the isiZulu swear word “msunu”, which loosely translates to a**hole.
