Watch! J’Something Speaks On The Birth Of Micasa & What The Group Means To Him – Mi Casa is a house duo or band based in Johannesburg and entails of three members, Dr. Duda (producer) and pianist, J’Something (vocalist and guitarist), and Mo-T (trumpeter).
The band was established in early 2011 in Johannesburg when all three future members were at a night lounge and decided to perform together. It advanced to an album released titled Micasa Music, which “went gold” quickly and won several awards at the 18th Annual MTN South Africa Music Awards in 2012.
“Duda did so many hit tracks for Mbuso, Fresh and Change the world. “- “His story is also phenomenal.
“I met them on a random night, I was working at the studios. soul candy was throwing a party, at the roof of the Radisson hotel. My cousin who moved me to Joburg, and he was having an engagement party, at the party”
There was a Deejay play and I heard the grooves and I was like an introvert, shyer guy than normal, but for some reason, I went up to Dr Duda and I was like yho, can I sing over these beats?
And ladies and gents that is how Micasa was birthed, following that everybody wanted them to produce music together and people wanted autographs. J’Something recalls being excited, astonished and anxious of this new opportunity. He was a freshman, straight out of varsity at that time. He was still trying to look for employment in the market place.
He did not know me, and I remember that look on his face, Duda is a nice guy, next thing I remember I was singing whatever was coming to mind and this trumpet guy rocks up, Mo” Then I started sharing my mic with Mo< I would sing and he would play his instruments.
“It took about three months to beg Duda to allow me to record a song, to write a song over a beat. He initially wanted to be a Jonh Mayer, knew nothing concerning the house music industry.
“My dream my whole life was to be on my guitar and sing”
The first song recorded for Micasa was this street – I really believe Micasa was destined to be a thing.
