Maskandi Artist Mfiliseni: “Piracy Destroyed Music”

The iconic maskandi artist Mfiliseni “Mqabulasheshe,” if you know Magubane’s music, then you know his music used to sell like hotcakes.

So, now he is struggling to provide for his family.

It has come to a point that the 54-year-old urged his fans not to purchase pirated versions of the CD he released last month, E-South Africa, and for event organisers to book him.

“Nothing has changed. I’m still talented. I don’t know why I’m being ignored,” said Mqabulasheshe.

“As artists, we can’t make money from selling CDs because of piracy. The government has failed us. We depend on event bookings.

“I’m humbly asking event organisers to book me. I’m even willing to negotiate a price.”

Mfiliseni, a Thenjiwe hitmaker’s 2011 hit album, Izwe Lihle Ngabantu, topped charts and gained platinum status. He explained although he is matured in age, he can still travel the world and perform.
