Kabelo Mabalane Encourages A Fan Faced With Nasty, Body-Shaming Comments From Community Members
Kabelo Mabalane Encourages A Fan Faced With Nasty, Body-Shaming Comments From Community Members – Kabelo Mabalane was a revolutionary figure on the South African music scene in the early 2000s.
As a fresh face with a voice that demanded to be heard, he challenged the conservatism of the day, calling himself “I’Pantsula for life”. Mabalane recently received a South African Music Awards Lifetime Achievement Award along with his group TKZee
Having lost more than 40kg and completed seven Comrades marathons in the past seven years, the kwaito star has become the poster boy for healthy body transformation.
Kabelo took to social media to respond to a fan who has established a healthy active lifestyle of jogging persistently, instead of other learning by example and applauding her courage for wanting better for herself, they continually mock her.
Thi is what the fan shared on her TL:
When i jog i am mocked in such a way that breaks my heart.. i get shamed alot and called nasty names.. am here to tell you that i use those stones you throw at me as fuel.. i run even faster when i hear voices of mockery…angiyi ndawo hoor
Body shaming and fat shaming is the same as bullying, whether it be in person, or online. It is the act or practice of negatively judging someone based on their physical appearance.
This is what Kabelo had to say to encourage the princess:
Typically, people are body shamed when they appear overweight or underweight or don’t fit society’s view of “thin and beautiful”. Our culture loves the ideology of a perfect body, whether it be in print, movies, television, or online, seeing someone who doesn’t fit the mould isn’t considered acceptable to some.
Let’s hope we all learn to be accepting of other people’s different physical attributes and treat each other with care and love.
