Shasha Describes How She Met DJ Maphorisa & Mentions Her Collaborations In the SA Music Scene.

Sha Sha recently released her debut EP, Blossom – a fitting title considering that her career has flowered beautifully in 2019. 

Her cab driver introduced her to DJ Maphorisa, and she played him one of her ballads, and he approved it. From there, they both started working together.

“I met him through my cab driver, I remember that evening, someone was supposed To wait for, one of mY friends was on the plane and she said you can use my guy”

“So, he was like, you do music, I know Maphorisa, I have transported him before. So, we can just go out there and meet him”

“I remember playing Maphorisa one of my ballads, like the voice and keys. He was blown away… and he was like ‘you’re dope, we can keep on working’ from there we just continued working. That was in 2017,” shared Sha Sha.

Her career dates back to 2017. Sha Sha and Audius collaborated with Brain Soko who assisted them to connect with some producers in South Africa.

“I met Mlindo to abo Don Laka, Something Soweto”

She came down to South Africa to work with a few rappers and producers including Priddy Ugly and Rouge. Sha Sha was later featured on the albums. Through DJ Maphorisa, she met and collaborated with Mlindo. 

Shasha mentions she has gone back to thank the uber driver and talks to him now and again for allowing her to meet DJ Maphorisa.

“He’s almost like a dad to me, to be honest. He always calls me, he checks up on me. He’s like ‘are you okay my daughter’ he’s also a fellow Zimbabwean from home,” said Sha Sha.
