Singer Simphiwe Dana has recently been under the fire of social media users. This is due to her stating that South African men are gold diggers. She came on social media to clarify why she stands by her statement. She has explained her stance for saying South African men are gold diggers last week.

Simphiwe Dana said to one social media user, “Truth is, you see how South African men oppress and abuse women, and don’t take care of your kids. But somehow you refuse to take responsibility. Because somehow we should have known better than to choose your sorry a**es because your behaviour is not your responsibility.” She then went on to speak about her personal views of South African men. She explained how the men supposedly use their partners. “They’re driving your car. Using your bank card. Shameless. Still have the audacity to go out there and say they’re taking care of you. You gold digger. They’re not paying maintenance,” says Simphiwe Dana.

The artist has never been one to back out due to pressure from social media when her ideas don’t hit as they were supposed to, even after trending, with people asking for her fall. She still stands by her statement. She was also backed by some social media users such as media personality KG Moeketsi.
