Gospel Star Malibongwe Gcwabe Passes Away, Singers Send Their Condolences. It was announced on Wednesday that gospel singer Malibongwe Gcwabe has passed away.

It was announced on Wednesday that gospel singer Malibongwe Gcwabe has passed away. The singer reportedly passed away after an illness. His daughter Agape Gcwabe announced the news on her Facebook page by Wednesday, according to Sowetan Live. The singer passed away at 6pm.

According to his promoter Luckie Shongwe, the singer passed away at the Cecilia Makhiwane Hospital. The singer was taken to the hospital after he struggled with an asthma attack. The promoter and friend Luckie Shongwe says Malibongwe Gcwabe passed away when he was in the middle of recording a track about Covid-19 with fellow gospel singer Khanyisa Sabuka. The promoter says, “We lost one of the greatest gospel musicians. Malibongwe was a talented and dedicated artist. He was always willing to help poor people as a result we were organizing food parcels that he was going to donate to the people.”

Other gospel stars also went onto lay their condolences for the late singer. Sipho Makhabane says, “He was a humble and down to earth person. He was dedicated to his work. As someone that I mentored I was very happy with his progress as an artist.” Zanele Mbokazi says, “The gospel industry mourns tonight. Rest in peace soldier.”
