House Music Artist Holly Rey Speaks About Her Diabetes And Fears During The Pandemic. House musician Holly Rey has been open about her diabetes condition, Type 1 diabetes.

House music singer Holly Rey has been open about her diabetes condition, Type 1 diabetes. She has also spoken about the hardships of living with the condition, especially during the coronavirus pandemic. The award winning singer also spoke about her worries for other people living with the condition in their lives.

“This period of the Covid pandemic has been an incredibly scary time for people living with pre-existing medical conditions like diabetes. Everyday I wakeup and think about all the people across SA who are living with diabetes and aren’t able to isolate or protect themselves,” says Holly Rey. The singer went on to say that speaking about her diagnosis was hard and the diagnosis changed her world forever at the age of 11. She also states that diabetic people have good and bad days.

“But on top of that we deal with so many stereotypes and misconception that makes us feel uncomfortable and sometimes ashamed of our condition…When I was younger I would avoid telling people about my condition until it was absolutely necessary to avoid judgement which often meant putting my own health at risk,” says Holly Rey. The singer says what she thought would be her weakness in life has become her strength.
