Women in South Africa have been having quite a tough time with all the murders directed towards, mostly by the people that they love. The two recent murders had the whole of South Africa realising how hard it is to live for a woman, with Tshegofatso Pule’s murder hurting people more due to her unborn child. Celebs went on social media to lay out their frustrations about gender-based violence.

Amanda Black used the ‘Vogue Challenge’ to briefly speak about the issue of gender-based violence. The musician did a remake of the legendary Brenda Fassie as her picture. “This photo is a remake of one of my all time fav images of Brenda Fassie. Mine was more of a silent cry than a scream. Women are so resilient, we shouldn’t have to be. We just want to be alive. That’s all,” says Amanda Black. Other celebs that spoke about the issue include Anele Mdoda and Boity Thulo.

“Dear Men. All Men. You do not known our bodies. You are not superior beings. We do not owe you our lives. We do not come from your f***ing rib. No means no! Stop killing us,” says Boity Thulo. Anele Mdoda wanted to know which woman would be the one that has people, including men, fighting for the gender the same way people fought for George Floyd.
