Kwaito artist Lvovo has bashed the people that have seen the call by some people to put South Africans ‘first’ as a xenophobic (or rather Afrophobic) act. The musician says that the people in the country can’t keep on suffering. The musician went on social media to say his piece, some thought that he was responding to Pearl Thusi saying that she will not defend borders that were drawn by colonisers.
Lvovo went on to lay his support for #PutSouthAfricansFirstNow, the hashtag has been trending for quite some time. The musician also stated that some people speak from a place of priviledge. “Our people must get jobs before we start thinking of visitors. I’m for everyone [but] South Africans must come first in everything! That’s where I stand,” says Lvovo. The artists went on to say that the people do not hate fellow Africans but they want local problems to be fixed.
“We love our neighbors. We are true Africans! But let’s fix local issues first [and] eradicate unemployment then we can help our brothers! If [you’re] in a boat with people who can’t swim, [you] 1st save yourself & then go rescue others! This is pure logic! SA 1st that’s where I stand,” says the musician. The musician went on to speak about why people complain about their issues in South Africa. “But what should be addressed by Government first are the billions that go into white hands instead of the poor,” says Lvovo.
