The South African Music Awards (SAMA) has been getting negative criticism from music fans for not including some of their favourite artists. When nominees were first announced, fans were frustrated that Makhadzi and Master KG were not nominated as they have had chart topping tracks. It seems that some artists are also frustrated that they were not nominated as they had chart topping tracks.

Hip hop musician Nadia Nakai was one of the people who didn’t understand how she was not on the SAMAs nomination list. “Listen, I know my Album is good…I’ve been around too long to know that these awards don’t really mean s**t…Imma keep moving…always,” says Nadia Nakai. Cassper Nyovest says, “Nadia Nakai shoulda been nominated for Best Hip Hop album at the Samas. I don’t know if it’s cause she a female or what but she dropped a great body of work and looking at the albums that made it, she atleast deserved a nomination. My 2 cents.”

RnB musician Ayanda Jiya was also frustrated at the SAMAs that she wasn’t nominated even though she has three tracks from her album that were dominating the charts. “Didn’t get nominated for best Rnb album that were dominating the charts on radio and tv. My current single ft Stogie T is one [of] the most played music videos on tv this year…I guess it’s [because] I’m not with a prominent label,” says Ayanda Jiya. Angie Santana says, “I’m upset sis. You deserve it. But don’t let it get you down.”
