Msawawa has left a mark on the kwaito scene in South Africa for quite some time. Now, the former kwaito legend thinks that he should get acknowledged for his lifetime achievement. He wants to be acknowledged for his involvement in the South African music industry for the past 20years, according to Daily Sun.
The musician has now chosen to change music genres. The musician said that his previous life of fame and money lead him to God, thus him singing gospel, as he lost both. His brother, Sandile Bhengu, also stated that the musician had a major impact musically in Durban. The brother goes on to say, “One day I’ll give him an award and I won’t do it at a prestigious event but it will be in the middle of the road somewhere because that’s where is, on the streets hustling,” says Sandile Bhengu.
The kwaito artist also stated that he did quite well, thinking that he also deserves the award. The artist has two awards in his name, ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Song Of The Year’ at Metro FM awards. “I’ve been in the music industry for almost 20 years but I only have two Metro Awards – Best Newcomer and Song of The Year. I did exceptionally well in the music industry, but if nobody recognises this. I’ll not be discouraged. I believe everything will happen at the right time,” says Msawawa.
