Artists have been having quite a tough time during the lockdown season, with some of them contacting the minister for solutions. However, the amount of money that some of them were offered is not enough for them considering the fact that they also have people that work for them. One artist that has recently come to the forefront for artists and remuneration is Zakes Bantwini.

However, the musician came with some tough love for the artists on social media. The musician states that the entertainment industry lacks leadership. “The entertainment industry lacks leadership, artists are acting like they are okay when they know they are not. No one will take care of us until we do something about it. We can’t be soft when you are at war with the system,” says Zakes Bantwini. He went on to say that artists will keep quite because they still pretend like as if they are okay. “No artist is doing well at this stage…From [chart] topping to a developing act…”

He carries on to say, “Artists keep pretending one day you’ll find yourself PR’ing poverty as your new cool…” The musician ended it by saying that artists won’t be able to lie forever and gave them a little quote. “Remember only when the tide goes out do you discover who’s been swimming n*ked…,” says Zakes Bantwini.
