The story of artists becoming victims of exploitation by their managers has been going on for quite some time in the music industry. Makhadzi has supposedly become a victim of the occurring activity of being exploitated. The artist claims that she has not received any of her royalties from her former manager, who she got into a dispute with.
“The only thing I did was to ask my money from my ex manager for my previous album matorokisi, and [money] for my royalties. [What] she did was to claim my money and delete all video from [YouTube] including riyavenda 10 million views and matorokisi 8 million views I didn’t get a cent [from] my [album]…,” says Makhadzi. The musician says that she is only surviving with money from gigs. “…since I asked her to claim my money from iTunes she said they were not working because of lockdown. Now everything is back to normal she’s not answering my calls she blocked me. I don’t even know how much I did from my album. I am only surviving with shows,” says the artist.
The artist claims that she is paying for her car but it is under the former manager’s name. “I want my money…I payed my picante car she doesn’t want to change ownership names…if I can die tomorrow everything will be under her name meaning I was born to be a slave I am tired…” The artist states that this has been tough on her.
