UK’s Grime MC, Rapper And TV Host, Big Zuu Returns to SA Music Scene With A New Biographical Single ‘Great To Be’

Proving his limitless ability to swerve pigeonholes, 2020 has been a landmark year for the 25
year-old artist. “Trust your instincts and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise” – that’s Big Zuu’s
philosophy, and it’s proved an effective one.

It’s how he went from trainee youth worker to one of grime’s biggest and brightest talents, with
his own primetime TV show and unmistakable pop cultural footprint. It’s how Big Zuu, has
pushed grime forward into an empowering and eclectic new terrain and over the course of
releases beloved by mainstream radio listeners and sweaty basement ravers alike, amassed
massive critical acclaim along the way.

Following singles, ‘Move Right ft. Drizilik’ – an ode to his Sierra Leonean heritage – and
recent hit ‘Doing Alright’ with collaborator Capo Lee – Zuu’s directorial debut; ‘Great To Be’,
sets a precedent for Big Zuu’s long-awaited, debut album.

Teaming-up once again with beatmaker SOULS, his triumphant new offering is imbued with the
passionate, thought-provoking parlance and top tier bars synonymous with the west-london MC.
‘Great To Be’, is an emotional showcase of Big Zuu’s vocal talent and weaves seamlessly
between his energetic cadence and sung choruses, offset by evocative cinematic strings.

‘Great To Be’ follows the announcement of not one but two Christmas specials of Zuu’s critically
lauded new series Big Zuu’s Big Eats – Big Zuu’s Christmas Eats, airing on channel Dave,
this December. The two-parter will feature a host of impressive names from music and comedy
including AJ Tracey, JME with his sister and radio presenter Julie Adenuga and Loyle Carner
alongside Ed Gamble, Phil Wang, Rosie Jones and Desiree Birch

‘Great To Be’, arrives at a time when the world is at Big Zuu’s feet. Big Zuu’s Big Eats, his
comedy cooking show on UK channel Dave, has turned the songwriter into a TV favourite. “It
was so fun to do but also it was meaningful. My mum’s a refugee from Africa. She never thought
her son would be on national television, representing our culture like that,”. Whether he’s
blazing trails on telly or in the booth, no matter what comes next, Zuu will keep trusting his
instincts and being himself. This is Big Zuu, and he’s not done inspiring yet.
