Unathi Nkayi Writes To SA Men About Their Silence Towards Gender-Based Violence. Media personality and Idols South Africa judge Unathi Nkayi has written a letter for South African men regarding their response to gender-based violence.

Media personality and Idols South Africa judge Unathi Nkayi has written a letter for South African men regarding their response to gender-based violence. She also spoke about the men’s response to the security of women. The Idols SA judge has stated how quiet a lot of men in the country are when it comes to gender-based violence.

The artist shared a written image saying, “Dear men. May your daughters meet guys like you.” She then captioned the image to speak about the silent ones, stating that there are amazing men out there. “This spoke to me in both ways…there are so many amazing men I know…and many not so amazing. But allow me to keep it to one specific theme…Your silence is loud…when it comes to GBV and our safety,” says Unathi Nkayi. The artist went on to speak about what a male friend of hers once said.

“A male friend of mine once confessed that it’s because some of them don’t know if they were guilty of it in the past when they were young and did not know…so as I leave you with the reminder that bad things happen when good people keep quiet…I also forgive you for keeping quiet when a woman was being ill treated in front of you for whatever reason and you kept quiet,” says Unathi Nkayi. She ended it by saying that she hopes the daughters don’t meet men like their fathers. “May your daughter never meet guys like you [because] she’ll see the coward you really are and this would shatter her world…,” says the Idols SA judge.
