MasterKG Bags African Artist Recognition Award In Nigeria. MasterKG has won yet another award and this time at the 14th Headies music awards in Nigerian which took place on 21 February. The event is usually held every December but was moved to February due to the pandemic. However, this did not stop the show from going on. The Jerusalema star bagged the African Artiste Recognition award and he was up against African tars like Kuami Eugene, Sauti Sol, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy.

The official Twitter account of Pulse Nigeria took to social media to share the updates of what transpired an who won which award and Master KG retweeted the tweet captioned: “Award Number something!!Big thanks world Big Thanks #14thHeadies One Love #Bodethomas.”

The 14th Headies awards were founded by the Hip Hop World Magazine in 2006 and is now in its 14th edition. The awards aims to recognise outstanding musicians and music professionals in the country’s entertainment industry. Ace Nigerian comedian Bovi and Nollywood actress Nancy Isime were the hosts of the annual Headies award.

The 2021 awards reward works released between July 2019 and September 2020. In addition to the existing 29 categories, the organisers last introduced the Songwriter of the Year category to “bring to the limelight hardworking individuals who have all significantly supported the creation of quality music.” Fireboy DML was leading the nominations with nine nods including Best Recording of the Year, Best R&B Album, Best Pop Album, Album of the Year and the Headies Viewer’s Choice Award. Both Davido and Wurld had seven nominations each, while Burna Boy, the reigning Artist of the Year, had secured six nominations.
