SA Artists React To MasterKG Going After Companies That Used “Jerusalema” For Advertising Purposes. While Master KG has reportedly filed letters of demand regarding licence fees for the companies that used hit single “Jerusalema” in their videos for advertising purposes. News that Warner International sent royalty invoices to various video posters in Germany sparked an outcry on social media, and South African artists had different reactions to the news.

DJ and producer Prince Kaybee agrees to the demand over payment license fees, while he says that some companies were not joining for the fun of it but to take an advantage. While #masterkg was trending on Twitter, he shared his thoughts on the issue. “Its not invalid for @MasterKGsa to ask for money. Some companies were not joining the challenge because they love the song but to hijack the global trend created by the song which is like getting international ad campaign at zero cost,” tweeted Kaybee.

However, Major League DJz duo didn’t seem to understand the need for companies to pay since the government instructed they participate in the #JerusalemaChallenge for heritage month. They captioned their tweet: “So is government gona pay for all companies that participated in the Jerusalem challenge for heritage month.. because instruction was from government to do so?”

Entertainent laywer who takes care of legal business for Open Mic Productionons, Dumisani Motsamai, said some people took the challenge on for their own gains. “I saw brands where you would see a drone showing a view of a company yard, then you will see their workshop, they dish out products, they make sure they give you a picture of every product they sell. The song is playing in the background, and because it is playing in the background, now I have an interest in seeing what this particular company is doing,” he said.
