Black Coffee Receives Backlash For Having Euphonik On His Birthday Celebration Line-Up. Black Coffee who is celebrating his birthday today, 11 March, will be hosting an event at The Neighbourgoods Market in Braamfontein, Johannesburg on Sunday, 14 March in celebration of his 44th birthday. The DJ posted the line-up of the event which includes the likes of Lemon & Herb, Desiree, and Themba who is also known as Euphonik.
Themba which is the birthname of Euphonik, sparked outrage on social media as tweeps accused Black Coffee of supporting Euphonik who was recently trending on social media following rape saga. The DJ posted the event line-up on his social media page captioned: “Chuuuuurchhhh. #Deepinthecity.”
Social media users expressed their anger towards Black Coffee accusing him of supporting the man who was recently accused of rape while retweeting the DJ’s tweet. One user wrote: “you move funny sometimes. and I think somehow you are also problematic, why did you use ‘Themba’ instead of ‘Euphonik’? why are you working with an alleged sexual offender??”
The rape case against Euphonik and his industry mate DJ Fresh was dismmised by the National Prosecuting Authority which confirmed it will not prosecute DJ Fresh and Euphonik on a rape charge as there was not enough evidence to prosecute them. The duo were accused of allegedly raping and drugging a woman and three others 10 years ago.
NPA North Gauteng spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said there was insufficient evidence to prosecute Fresh and Euphonik upon perusal of the docket. “With regards to the DJs Fresh and Euphonik matter, the docket was indeed presented to the prosecutor. Upon perusal of all the available evidence in the docket, a decision not to prosecute was taken. There are no prospects of successful prosecution on the available evidence, because the evidence is insufficient,” said Mahanjana.
