Blaq Diamond Goes Multi-Platinum On Umuthi Album And Three Singles. There are a few number of artists who are able to well capture the sound that represents a forgotten part of the South African culture in the mainstream. And Blaq Diamond have found a way to depict this sound. Afro-Pop duo, Blaq Diamond signed under Ambitiouz Entertainment have made their statements in the music industry with their hit singles that are still making waves till date. The Ibhanoyi hit makers released their 13 track album titled Umuthi which has recently accumulated major achievements.
Blaq Diamond’s Umuthi album have achieved a 6x platinum status, with 3 songs on also having achieved platinum status as well. Taking to social media was their recording label Ambitiouz Entertainment to share snaps of the duo with their multi-platinum plaques in a tweet that reads: “A big congratulations to the most hardworking duo we know @blaqdiamond150. They each get a plaque for: Love Letter- 3x platinum Ibhanoyi-4x platinum SummerYoMuthi- 2x platinum Umuthi Album- 6x platinum.”
The Umuthi album which means medicine in Zulu, consists of 13 tracks with hit songs including Ibhanoyi which achieved 4x platinum plaque, Love Letter which went 3x platinum, SummerYoMuthiand 2x platinum and Woza My Love which is aslso a banger till date. Umuthi album features the likes of Sjava, Cici, maskandi artist Igcokama Elisha and Thee Legacy. All these artists bring unique sounds that complement the vision of the album. Their hit single “Ibhanoyi” also won the prestigious Record of the Year award, a category voted for by the fans at the SAMAs.
Blaq Diamond has grown from strength to strength since releasing their debut album Inqola in 2017. They have made a name for themselves by making songs that everyday people can relate to, and tell reality stories of black people in South Africa and other parts of southern Africa.
