Is Gqom Queen Babes Wodumo Crossing Over To Amapiano? During a podcast interview with MacG, MacG asked Babes Wodumo if she would do an amapiano song. Babes said that she actually has a an uncomplete song with amapiano vocalist and dancer Kamo Mphela.

“Kamo mphela wanted us to do a song, so I did a song with Kamo. I think all is left for hr is to add her verse and complete it. It goes like this: ‘We Kamo what’s your favourite dish? We Tupperware’ it is nice. We also did a gqom song and she also asked me to do amapiano. So she said I must guide her in a gqom song, and I asked her to guide me in the amapiano song since I don’t now the dynamics of the whole thing.”

Kamo Mphela has made for herself in the amapiano industry with her famous songs Sandton, and now amanikiniki. She has collaborated with the likes of Major League DJz, MFR Souls, DJ Maphorisa, just to name a few. Babes latest song Idandokazi released in 2020, beats to the heart of gqom with a bit of amapiano sounds to it dominating radio stations and dance floors.

Babes however, has hinted at a musical comeback that she was considering releasing an Amapiano track. She took to social media in 2019 to share the news after hinting that she would love to make a song with the genre’s current frontrunner Kabza De Small. “They say Babes Wodumo is done. Wait until we get a (sic) Amapiano hit,” she said.
