As you and I are liable to the law, like any citizen, if a celebrity is associated with illegal pursuit, they will face the long arm of the law. Here is a list of local celebs who have served time either a day or years inside a jail cell.

  1. NATHI

His dismay, he was educated the hard way that crime, indeed does not pay. Soon following that, they were arrested and were held at holding cells, where they escaped. He fled and went to Jo’burg. Soon after that, reality hit him that he couldn’t run forever. Having left his sister and mother behind, Nathi went back home and handed himself over to the police. He was sentenced to 4 years in jail.

2.Kelly Khumalo

Kelly Khumalo was arrested and spent a short stint in jail in 2013 after she attacked Senzo Meyiwa’s wife. The TV star and kwaito singer Bonginkosi Dlamini, famous to millions of fans as Zola.

3. Zola

Police accused the youth idol of assaulting them and obstructing the course of justice. Zola, star of his own hit show Zola 7, and an actor in the controversial youth drama, Yizo Yizo, was released later by a magistrate who declared there was not enough evidence to charge him.

4. BRICKZ

Kwaito star Sipho Ndlovu, popularly known as Brickz, was arrested in 2013 for allegedly raping his 17-year-old niece. In 2017, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found guilty on the charges.

5. BLACK COFFEE

Award-winning house DJ Black Coffee appeared at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Monday after being arrested for speeding over the weekend.

The We Dance Again hitmaker was arrested on Christmas Eve when he was caught travelling at 200km/h in a 120km/h zone. Black Coffee, whose real name is Nkosinathi Maphumulo, was nabbed on the N1 highway near the Maraisberg Bridge.
