Lira Celebrates 20th Anniversary Of Her Debut Album

Lira celebrates 20th anniversary of her debut album. Afro soul singer and songwriter Lira reminisced on the time she started her music career as she celebrated the 20th anniversary of her first album. 

Lira is a talented singer known for her sweet and soulful voice. She has been in the music industry for a long time and has blessed her fans with classic music. The singer had been awarded numerous times for her phenomenal work and she is still recognized till this day.

Taking to her Instagram page, Lira shared that on the 5th of May marked exactly 20 years since the release of her debut album titled All My Love released in 2003. She shared how special this album is to her as it is the one that paved her way in her musical journey. She also shared that she poured her heart out on the album and a lot of effort was put on it. The project made waves on digital platforms and she was also nominated by the SAMAs under the category of best new comer in 2003.

“5 May 2023. Today marks 20 years since the release of my first album ‘All My Love’. My first effort, I’m so proud of this album. The lyrics were deep and meaningful. I wrote every song and I was given the opportunity to be my self in this project. The album garned a lot of airplay and I got my first South African Music Award nomination for thee best newcomer. Listen to the album, All My Love. #Lira20years”, Lira wrote.

Whilst celebrating, the singer graced a front page cover of Certified Africa magazine as the artist of the month. The singer was emotional as she detailed how her journey started. She shared that she had to quit her job at the time to follow her dream of music. She expressed that she is elated that everything was a success and yielded good results. She further added saying everything paid of as she is able to enjoy the fruits of her labour even when she took a break to recover from the illness.

“20th Anniversary of All My Love. 5 May 2023 makes me so emotional. I quit my accounting job in 2001 and decided to pursue a career in music. I had no idea 20 years down the line I’ll be living comfortably with music being my source of income. The hard work and sacrifice was totally worth it. I’m enjoying the fruits of my labour even as I take a break to fully recover”, Lira shared.
