Apple Music Names TRESOR as Latest Cover Star for Isgubhu Platform

Apple Music has announced multi-award-winning African pop maverick TRESOR as the latest cover star for Isgubhu, its flagship platform dedicated to celebrating African dance and electronic music. This prestigious recognition highlights TRESOR’s continued influence in shaping the sonic identity of the African continent.
Sharing his excitement, TRESOR stated: “I am delighted and honoured to be on the cover of Isgubhu for June, as I aim to elevate African dance music here at home and globally—a genre that has been so vital in my musical journey.”
To celebrate this achievement, TRESOR has released a brand-new single, “Naliya,” featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Msaki and versatile artist BATUNDI. The track merges euphoric melodies with lush electronic textures, showcasing the trio’s unique synergy. Emotional yet dancefloor-ready, “Naliya” is expected to resonate across clubs and streaming platforms worldwide.
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, TRESOR first captivated audiences with his 2015 hit single “Mount Everest.” Since then, he has released four additional studio albums, each further establishing his presence in the global music landscape. TRESOR’s cross-continental appeal includes a standout collaboration with international superstar Drake—he co-wrote and produced the hit “Fountains,” featuring Nigerian sensation Tems. His work continues to bridge the gap between Afro-pop and the global music scene.
As part of his Isgubhu feature, TRESOR has curated an exclusive playlist spotlighting some of the most exciting voices in African dance and electronic music. The selection includes “Ndisize” by Caiiro & Ami Faku, “Sohlala Sonke” by Dlala Thukzin, and “Gorah” by Nitefreak & Emmanuel Jal. TRESOR expressed his enthusiasm about the current wave of creativity in the African music scene: “I am really enjoying this new wave of African electronic music. I’ve chosen songs with outstanding melodies and rhythm, bringing such amazing colour to African dance music. I think we are entering the most innovative phase of African music ever, and it’s very exciting!”
Isgubhu is Apple Music’s flagship destination for African dance and electronic music. The platform offers a curated selection of tracks, exclusive DJ mixes, editorial playlists, and takeovers by forward-thinking African artists. Isgubhu aims to showcase the rich and diverse sounds emerging from the continent’s dynamic music scenes.
With this latest honour, TRESOR continues to shape the future of African sound, inspiring a new generation of musicians and listeners alike.
