Salif Keita Pulls Out Of Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek Due To Medical Emergency
Fans heading to the Montreux Jazz Festival Franschhoek this weekend will unfortunately no longer get to see legendary Malian artist Salif Keita perform in person, after organisers confirmed his withdrawal from the festival due to a sudden illness.
In an official statement released by the festival, organisers said Keita is unable to travel to South Africa after requiring an emergency medical procedure, forcing him to step away from the highly anticipated inaugural African edition of the globally celebrated jazz event.
Despite the disappointing news, festivalgoers will still get to experience a special performance connected to Keita’s legacy. Organisers confirmed that his band will still perform as scheduled on Saturday, delivering the music and repertoire that had been prepared for the occasion.
