Zakes Bantwini to Launch Inaugural Mayonie Festival at Constitution Hill

Grammy Award-winning artist and cultural icon Zakes Bantwini will launch the first-ever Mayonie Festival on 30 November 2025 at Johannesburg’s historic Constitution Hill. The festival will celebrate the evolution of Afrohouse and Afrotech, offering a fully curated cultural experience that blends music, art, and style.

Presented by Mayonie Productions, the festival highlights the progression of African electronic music. It will feature top DJs and artists, immersive visuals, and interactive installations that showcase the depth and diversity of Afrohouse and Afrotech.

Bantwini describes Mayonie Festival as an immersive journey. “This isn’t about recreating what’s already been done,” he says. “Mayonie Festival will be an experience where the music, visuals, people, and energy are all connected. It’s where you’ll truly feel the heartbeat of Afrohouse.”

The festival promises layered sound design, captivating visuals, and interactive spaces that allow attendees to engage directly with the music and its story. Each stage and installation is designed to provide a multidimensional experience.

In addition to General Access and VIP tiers, Mayonie Festival will offer Elevated General Tickets. This upgrade gives attendees backstage access directly behind the performing DJ or artist, providing an intimate, up-close perspective.

Tickets will be released in three phases, with upgrades available while capacity lasts. This debut edition marks the start of a new era for African electronic music festivals, where every detail is intentional and every guest is part of the story. Tickets are available on Howler.

The Mayonie Festival aims to redefine live music experiences in South Africa, positioning itself as a must-attend event for fans of Afrohouse, Afrotech, and immersive cultural experiences.
