Alex Solomon Drops New Summer Anthem ‘Ty Dollar’ Featuring Zwicky

Rising star Alex Solomon, 25, has released her new single Ty Dollar featuring Zwicky, a sun-soaked anthem that captures the comic rush of youth and freedom. Known for previous tracks such as Typical You and STUPID, Alex steps into a new phase of her career with a song that blends humor, spontaneity, and summer vibes. “Ty Dollar is a fun one,” Alex says. “I wanted to capture the thrill and humor of a spontaneous night-out gone wrong.”
The music video for Ty Dollar was shot in Plettenberg Bay with longtime friend Chad Mansfield of Basset Films. “We grew up together, so I felt completely comfortable to just play around again, but this time in our professions,” she shares. Limited resources led them to a one-location, rolling-shot concept, with cameras rigged onto her dad’s old Jimny. “It only has four gears and maxes out at 60km/h, so Chad had to get very creative,” Alex laughs. “I hadn’t rehearsed anything, not even driving the car properly, so I decided to just let go and have the most fun I could. That’s exactly what the song is made for.”
Ty Dollar tells the story of sneaking away with someone you probably shouldn’t, only to end up in a hilariously awkward situation. “Every summer deserves at least one wild story,” Alex jokes. “This track is a reminder that sometimes the best memories come from the worst decisions.” The song blends infectious hooks, shimmering synths, and journal-entry-style lyricism, making it feel like texting your best friend.
Originally written in 2019 under a different artist name, Alex has re-released the track as a nostalgic send-off before entering a bold new musical era. “I call it my coming-of-age story, except it’s really just me realising I should’ve stayed home,” she confesses.
With Ty Dollar, Alex Solomon continues to establish herself as a pop storyteller, turning life’s misadventures into catchy, relatable anthems that define her rising career.
