DJ Cndo Becomes a Certified Legend and Promises New Album for Fans in 2026
DJ Cndo, born Sindisiwe Zungu, has been officially recognised as a legendary DJ in South Africa. She received the Dance Music Legend DJ award during the South African Dance Music Awards held at The Playhouse in Durban on Saturday, 22 November.
Hailing from Mandini, KwaZulu-Natal, DJ Cndo began her career in 2009 and quickly became a household name on Mzansi’s dance floors with hits such as Amerido, Seducer, Terminator and Udaddy Onemali. Her last album, Finest Lady of House Music Volume 5, was released in 2015, and she has paused album releases since then.
Over the years, DJ Cndo has earned several top accolades, including Best Dance Album at the 2011 Metro FM Music Awards and Best Female Artist at the 2013 Metro FM Music Awards.
In an interview with Daily Sun, DJ Cndo revealed that she has been working on her sixth album since 2023 but faced interruptions. The honorary award has reignited her motivation to complete it, promising fans that it will be released in 2026.
“Yes, I have been in music for a long time keeping people on the dance floor, but I didn’t expect the award to recognise me as a legendary DJ and I’m happy for it. I still feel like I’m one of the young stars in the music industry and I appreciate being recognised for the work I have done before,” she said.
She added, “Receiving this recognition award reminded and motivated me that I owe my fans an album and this time I’ll make sure that they get the full album in 2026. I’ve been getting interrupted to release an album for them for many years, and I was also hoping to release it this year, but I failed. But after this honorary award, in 2026 the album will be out.”
DJ Cndo also noted that the music landscape has evolved since her last release. Her upcoming album will reflect this change, incorporating a mix of genres beyond her signature house music style, offering fans a fresh experience while staying true to her roots.
The award not only celebrates her past achievements but also marks a new chapter in her career, signaling that DJ Cndo is ready to reclaim the spotlight and deliver the music her fans have been waiting for.
