DJ Chymamusique Returns to the Studio After Life-Changing Accident

South African deep house producer and DJ Chymamusique is on the road to recovery after undergoing more than six surgeries following a devastating car accident. Despite the difficult healing process, the 35-year-old artist has returned to the studio, working on new music and fulfilling special requests from fellow musicians.
Chymamusique was involved in a fatal crash on 30 August 2025 along the N1 near Polokwane, Limpopo. The accident claimed the lives of four people, including his close friend and fellow DJ, DJ Poizen. The incident left Chymamusique with serious injuries requiring multiple surgeries and an extended recovery period.
Known for hits like Speak Lord (Retro Remix), Lost in Words (Main Saxed Mix), and Don’t Wait Till I’m Gone (Musique Chant), Chymamusique has long been celebrated as a deep house maestro. In a recent Instagram video, he shared that he is back in the studio, working under supervision while adhering to medical advice.
“I got special requests to master some albums by very special artists, and they said it has to be me doing the work,” he said. “I know I’m not allowed to be alone or work too much, but I’m with this guy and I’m here to do the work today and tonight. Special request and I hope you are grand.”
Fans, colleagues, and industry peers have rallied to support Chymamusique financially. Many contributed to his medical expenses directly or through fundraising initiatives. In a heartfelt statement, he expressed gratitude for the unexpected generosity.
“There’s a group of people who randomly decided to send money into my bank accounts since they had my details from my past transactions. Since I was in the accident I never had to borrow or withdraw savings. Mind you these people don’t know each other, and they didn’t plan this. It’s surprising how they send almost the same amount. I guess this is God showing me that He has me covered because one of my worries was that I’m losing income during festive season and some wanted a refund,” he said.
Chymamusique’s return to music marks an important milestone in his recovery. Fans and industry insiders are celebrating his resilience and looking forward to new releases from the Limpopo-born artist, whose contributions to South Africa’s deep house scene remain significant.
