Malik Kicks Off 2026 With New Music and Big Plans

Mzansi music star Malik is starting 2026 with momentum, promising a year full of new releases, collaborations, and opportunities. The singer, who made a strong comeback late last year, is ready to return to the studio and take his fans along for the ride.
Malik revealed that he plans to release a new album around March or April. “Amazing things are happening. I’ve got another album coming out this year. I think we’re going to drop sometime around March or April,” he said. In addition to his album, he is working on music for television projects and preparing to release other artists under his label, Likstar Entertainment.
The singer’s recent self-titled album earned a South African Music Award (Sama) nomination, further motivating him to share more music. “I’ve got a lot of music that I want to share with the country, so why not? I don’t want to release singles. I’m a fan of albums and want to release those,” Malik explained. He added that his work ethic is constant, spending every day in the studio developing ideas into finished products.
Malik is also using his platform to support emerging talent. While most of his upcoming album is a solo effort, he has included a feature from a new artist. “It can’t always just be about Malik, I want to open doors and help open up the industry for others,” he said.
Looking ahead, Malik described 2026 as a year for growth and creativity. He plans to focus on performing, expanding his brand, and executing projects that have a lasting impact on the industry. Fans can expect a mix of solo work, collaborations, and releases from other artists under Likstar Entertainment.
“This year is going to be about growth, creativity and making moves that matter,” Malik concluded, signaling an ambitious year for both himself and the South African music scene.
