Zolani Mahola Teams Up with Bravo Le Roux for Highly Anticipated Project ‘XhosaNostra’

Legendary South African musician Zolani Mahola is joining forces with Cape Town-born Xhosa rapper Bravo Le Roux for the upcoming single XhosaNostra. The collaboration unites two artists who share a deep commitment to culture, storytelling, and music that resonates with their heritage.
The project began earlier this year after a German music producer approached Bravo with the idea. From the first interaction, Zolani and Bravo felt an instant creative connection. “I guess it was destiny. Zolani and I instantly clicked because we stand for similar things in life. We both care about our culture. There was a lot of chemistry even before we got in the studio,” Bravo shared with Drum.
For Bravo, working with Zolani was a full-circle moment, reminiscent of his early collaboration with Sjava. When Sjava featured on his 2023 debut album, Igazi, Inyembezi Nombilo, he memorized Bravo’s songs beforehand, leaving a lasting impression. XhosaNostra carries that same level of cultural respect and storytelling, blending Zolani’s iconic voice with Bravo’s dynamic Xhosa rap for a track that bridges generations of South African music.
Bravo Le Roux, whose real name is Sinesipho Peter, has a growing reputation for high-profile collaborations. He has worked with Ifani, Dee Koala, Youngsta CPT, Yanga Chief, and Priddy Ugly (Bathini Ngam?), establishing himself as a prominent voice in Xhosa hip-hop. His music is rooted in his Khayelitsha upbringing, shaped by early exposure to local Xhosa rap and a passion for storytelling.
Before fully pursuing music, Bravo worked a 9-5 job at a butcher’s shop, balancing survival with his creative ambitions. His career gained momentum after performing on Nasty C’s Ivyson Tour in 2018, opening doors for collaborations with some of South Africa’s top artists.
Both artists see XhosaNostra as more than just a song; it’s a celebration of Xhosa culture and a statement for the future of South African hip-hop. “Xhosa rap was always in the streets, it was always hot. Collaborations with artists like Zolani amplify our culture and bring it to a wider audience,” Bravo said.
XhosaNostra is poised to be a standout release, combining cultural pride, storytelling, and genre-defining hip-hop energy. Fans can expect a track that highlights the strengths of both Zolani Mahola and Bravo Le Roux while showcasing the evolving sound of Xhosa rap.
