Is Sjava taking a break from music?
It is said you have the power to choose what you allow to define you in the industry; you need to be thick-skinned. You cannot allow petty things to affect you. And somehow celebrities are expected to be bulletproof; not allow hurtful commentaries regulated by the public to affect them. Honestly, it is heartbreaking because we are all human beings with emotions and feelings.
Well, Jabulani Hadebe, born on the 2nd of December 1984; around known as Sjava is a pronounced award – collecting skilful artist and screen actor living in Johannesburg, Mzansi. He has been with Ambitious Entertainment, one of South Africa’s prominent recording label. He was first recognised in the limelight with the premiere of a single, “Ameni” – if you can still recall that catchy chorus that we all dearly loved; it was him establishing his place in the limelight. His career has been from a good start, scooping him a “2018 BET Viewers Choice award,” for best international Act Award.
You would think a man of such achievements is experiencing the best life in his personal life and public. It was alarming when he announced his break from the industry. He exclaims he will take a break when his contract ends with his current recording label. He feels he needs a time-out from the spotlight to reflect and take a breather.
Obviously, when he mentioned this to his fans, they were reluctant to support him on his idea. Some fans implored him to continue delivering the quality music they have been enjoying. It prompted them to convince him to stay. – One of his fans was touched and stated he wishes the star to stay, his music has an impact on our generation
Although the sentiment was not shared by all, one fan came out blunt and shared his mind on the issue, sending no consolation to the star. This is what Jabulani Maduna had to say: “So we should feel sorry for him? Anna, I got no time!! I mean Cass and AKA get roasted daily and they’ve never said they quitting. He’s not special, ouch….. that has to hurt big time.
The star has been transparent about his perspective and emotions concerning the brutality that comes from social media. He mentioned the usual, how grating the social media is, and trolls have cornered him before with depression which lasted for months.
We hope that he will recover and be able to come back with a different perspective for better music.
