10 Things You Did Not Know About Simmy In 2019 – Mzansi Neo-soul / Neo-folk vocalist has created out a particular standing in the music industry. Simmy has become one of South Africa’s treasured gem. She has performed to thousands of fans, she also narrated and co-produced some of her own material.
- The KZN born-and-bred vocalist and songwriter, Simphiwe Ndlangela, 25, came to the spotlight when she featured on Sun-EL Musician’s hit single, Ntaba Ezikude.

3. The title of her album, Tugela Fairy, was motivated by where she comes from, Tugela Ferry, a place in eMsinga KwaZulu Natal. It was also a platform for her to embellish her love for fable fiction and storytelling.
4. Her sound is influenced by the integration of maskandi, country music, neo-soul and electro house music. Simmy’s primary music innovations are borrowed from Letta Mbulu and Dolly Parton. She has a desire to collaborate with Sjava and Thandiswa Mazwai.
5. She was able to determine which songs to incorporate on the album by observing the people circulating her and their reactions to her songs. She would play her music and receive a sense of which song entertains the best, or perhaps not. Although she had her favourites and made sure they get airtime such as Ngiyesaba, Ngiyavuma and Vele Kungcono.
6. The best advice she has received about the music industry wasn’t given to her directly, although it’s from one of her inspirations, Dolly Parton. 7. When she then left home for Joburg, it was transparent that where she was going, she was going to pursue her education.
8. In case you wondering, If Simmy was not doing music what would she be doing? She would be in the recruitment industry, she worked as a recruitment consultant at Tech Pro.

Simmy established her love for music by writing music in primary school and she composed the songs with her companions, who were also her fellow school choir mates at the time. “I sometimes didn’t even understand the depth of the words I was putting down on paper, I just wanted to write, compose my own music and sing”
10. Her debut album Tugela Fairy was emancipated on the 26th of October 2018. Her record label is EL World Music.
