K.O Criticizes SA Rappers Nasty C and Cassper Nyovest
SA hip hop artist Ntokozo Mdluli famously known as K.O expressed how he feels about the way music is in South Africa these days. The former Teargas member even went on to say that he is one the best artists to ever come out of South Africa. K.O has been in the music industry for more than a decade, it is no doubt that he is talented. The artist said that in his years in the music industry he has seen a lot of transformation some for the best and some for the worst.
In his interview with TshisaLive he made reference to some of the hip hop and rap artists who are running good game in the industry like Nasty C. “Nasty C is amazing and will no doubt be a god in a few year’s time. I think he is doing big things for the country‚ but if he could somehow include local elements in his music‚ I think he would be three times bigger. I understand when people say that his music could be more South African‚” the Caracara hitmaker said. His main point was that great artists like Emtee and Nasty C need to work more in localizing their music.
K.O also spoke of how great he thinks Cassper is and that his music career is growing really well but said that the Tito Mboweni hitmaker hasn’t yet released a ground-breaking album. “He is breaking ground but still has some room to grow musically. He needs to pull another rabbit out the hat. I feel like his magic album is still coming.”
In conclusion K.O said that most artist often copy the American artists, “Hip-hop has really grown and is doing well in SA‚ but we have become our own worst enemy. Too many artists have lost the flavour that makes them unique and have started copying American artists‚” he explained.
He is currently working on an album which is set to release this year.
