The guitar that Frances Bean Cobain had from Kurt Cobain is going under auction amidst her messy divorce. The daughter of the late legendary singer gave up his 1959 D-18E electric-acoustic guitar. The lead of Nirvana used the guitar at the band’s 1993 set of MTV Unplugged, he played at the set 5 months before he passed away.
France Cobain had to give up the guitar in order to settle her divorce with Isaiah Silva. The former husband states that he is the owner of the device after the daughter of Kurt Cobain gave him the guitar as a wedding present. The guitar will be on sale by June. The auctioning place, Julien’s Auctions Music Icons, released a statement regarding the guitar.
“In addition, the sale of the guitar comes with its original hard-shell case decorated by Cobain with a flyer from the punk rock band Poison Idea’s 1990 album Feel the Darkness. Three baggae claim ticket stubs are attached to the handle, along with an Alaska Airlines sticker affixed to the case,” says the statement. It is also stated that in the storage compartment of the singer’s bag there is a half pack of guitar strings and a supposed sued ‘stash’ bag that was decorated with a mini fork, silver spoon and knife.
