House music DJ, DJ Zinhle, went on social media to express her concerns. The musician spoke about her issue with performing for free, for companies that are well-known. She noted the possibility of her risking her life due to being at the needed venue.

“Am I the only artist who gets highly offended when a reputable company/organisation asks for a free performance. How am I gonna risk my life going out to record a stream for free when I haven’t had an income for 3 months,” says DJ Zinhle. Prince Kaybee also noted that when he spoke about the same thing that he got attacked. “When I said this ya’ll came for me even [Euphonik]…let me shush. Social media users supported DJ Zinhle’s statement.

Who [would] agree to such.” One social media user says, “It’s basically like someone telling a photographer that they will pay them with exposure…” One user says, “The audacity…We get it all the time, and they’re using this time cause they know they can try and bargain and get aay with it. They know we [love] performing.” One social media user says, “Even if you were still gigging and getting paid for it, doing it for free wouldn’t be ideal because DJing is your job. They must respect you enough to pay you for doing your job. We would have a different chat if it’s for charity but none either than that…”
