Ntsiki Mazawai Supports Lady Zamar Amidst The Backlash Of Her Rape Case Against Sjava Being Scrapped. In 2019, Lady Zamar opened a case of sexual assault against fellow musician and ex-boyfriend Sjava.
In 2019, Lady Zamar opened a case of sexual assault against fellow musician and ex-boyfriend Sjava. The musician opened the case at the nearest police station but then it was moved over to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA). However, the case was scrapped two weeks ago by the NPA.
Lady Zamar received a lot of backlash from social media users after the announcement. Some of the social media users have stated that there should be consequences for the musician. NPA spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi told Sowetan Live that there was no tangible evidence that would have them apprehend Sjava and thus charging him for sexual assault. “The state declined to prosecute the case because it believed the facts or evidence do not support a successful prosecution,” says Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi. When the announcement came out, online campaigns for Lady Zamar to fall started picking up. This had the artist facing online bullying again after the first incident when she announced that the fellow musician sexually assaulted her.
The ruling doesn’t state whether Sjava is innocent nor guilty, however people have already reached their own conclusions. Ntsiki Mazwai has expressed her heartache for Lady Zamar because she has battle bullies while also having to fight the trauma that she supposedly encountered. “They say you must fall because like millions of women you couldn’t bring your broken soul as evidence…I’m sorry you’re going through this Zamar. [I am] sor heartbroken…,” says Lady Zamar.
