Highly acclaimed poet Lebo Mashile went on social media to call out Lebo M’s role on his new reality series. The poet states that the role of the music composer and producer is being that of a patriarch who supposedly bullies and silences those around him. The poet was initially speaking about toxic entertainment that gives power to the creator.

In her statement, she first spoke about Donald Trump and how his BS has been consumed as entertainment, which built the United States of America president’s political platform. “Thinking about how what we consume as entertainment, even toxic entertainment, empowers the creator. Thinking about Trump, the reality star, & how his BS was consumable as entertainment, & how that fame ultimately built his political platform,” says Lebo Mashile. When she spoke about Lebo M’s show she spoke about how horrible it is to give energy to such a man, even though the show might be compelling as a entertainment.

“Thinking about Lebo M’s new show and how compelling it is as entertainment, but how horrible it is at the same time, to give this much energy to a man who is clearly a patriarch who bullies and silences the people around him,” says the poet. She ended it by speaking about the Kardashians became wealthy by appropriating black women’s aesthetics. “Thinking about how we watched the Kardashians become billionaires by appropriating Black women’s aesthetics, but the originators of the same aesthetics rarely capitalise on them. Women like Mshoza, who are the actual blueprint, die young. This too can be impacted by what we consume,” says Lebo Mashile.
