South African Music Legend Sibongile Khumalo Passes Away At The Age Of 63. It has been announced that one of the most renowned musicians in South Africa Dr Sibongile Khumalo has passed away.
It has been announced that one of the most renowned musicians in South Africa Dr Sibongile Khumalo has passed away. The musician has passed away on the 28th of January. The world renowned musician passed away at the age of 63 years old.
According to a statement it is stated that she passed away due to stroke related complications after a long illness. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr Sibongile Khumalo our iconic, world celebrated South African singer affectionately known as Ma’Mngoma…,” reads the statement. Sibongile Khumalo’s family says that she will be missed by those who had the privilege of experiencing her music, friendship and love. “The family is grateful for the support and prayers during this time,” says the late musician’s family. The singer’s fans and other celebrities went on social media to mourn the loss of a legend.
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s social media page says, “This is a moment of great sadness for all of us who were mesmerised and moved by the power, sensuality and improvisation of Sibongile Khumalo’s unique voice. Not only was she an unmistakable voice on concert stages around our country and the world, but she was a voice of advocacy for the performing arts, for the rights and place of women in our society, and for human rights at large.” The page went on to state that as a music academic she was also a voice of instruction and inspiration to new generations of artists who had the privilege of learning from her. Radio personality Mo Flava says, “Unbelievable. May her beautiful soul rest in peace…”

Thank you for being amazing.” Actor Sello Maake KaNcube posts a picture of them together on stage says, “I remember this day like it was just yesterday, what a talent you were and it’s so sad that we now have to use your talent in past tense!” This comes after another passing of a legendary artist, Jonas Gwangwa.
