We Kill Cowboys Return With Grit and Fury on “Cherry Lips”

Cape Town’s most notorious rock provocateurs, We Kill Cowboys, are back with a track that hits hard, bleeds attitude, and refuses to follow the rules. “Cherry Lips” marks the band’s first release as a full five-piece, delivering a potent mix of punk aggression, grunge grit, and post-hardcore bite.
Frontwoman Alex Muller, formerly wielding a guitar, now channels her energy solely through vocals. Her voice is raw, relentless, and impossible to cage. Born from years of experience as a tattoo artist and a fierce sense of individuality, Alex leads the band with unapologetic intensity.
The new lineup tightens the chaos. Floris Le Roux joins on second guitar, clashing and complementing Mornay’s sharp riffs. Andrew drives the rhythm on drums, while Miggs anchors the sound with bass lines heavy enough to shake the room.
Alex Muller describes “Cherry Lips” as a declaration of self-ownership. “It’s heavy – the first song we’ve written as a five-piece. It’s about rejecting the idea that anyone needs to save you or mould you into their personal fantasy and refusing to let someone tame your wildness. It’s a feminist song, drawn from personal experience, but the message applies to everyone: don’t be anyone’s bitch — be your own.”
The single previews their upcoming album, Back From The Dead, set for release through Mongrel Records. “Cherry Lips” is designed for live impact. It’s aggressive, chaotic, and visceral, built for stage sweat and vocal strain. It refuses to be ignored and challenges listeners to embrace its unbridled energy.
We Kill Cowboys are not making music to blend in. With “Cherry Lips,” they set the tone for a record that amplifies rebellion, independence, and raw rock ’n roll power. This is the sound of a band that thrives on disorder and dares you to resist moving along with it.
