Nalu Shines in Her Pop Era with New Single “Meteor”

Born and raised in Cape Town, Nalu has earned recognition for her genre-blending sound, mixing jazz, R&B, acoustic soul, and lo-fi. She is celebrated for translating themes of womanhood, self-love, and human connection into music that resonates deeply. With her new single “Meteor,” Nalu steps boldly into her pop era, delivering a dreamy, empowering track that transforms personal heartbreak into light.
“This is my reminder to anyone healing from betrayal: your light can’t be dimmed, only redirected,” Nalu shares. “And even the most destructive impact can leave behind stardust.” Rooted in introspection and emotional honesty, “Meteor” marks a new chapter in the evolving Naluverse.
The single captures the moment of reclaiming power after a painful separation. Though inspired by the aftermath of a friendship breakup, its message extends beyond a single story. “Meteor is about reclaiming yourself, and your power, after losing someone you thought would always be in your life,” Nalu explains. “Writing this song was my way of taking that power back, of choosing self-validation after being made to doubt my own truth.”
“Meteor” originated from a late-night spark of inspiration. Nalu stumbled on a beat during a YouTube scroll that unlocked the vision for the track. “I wanted to bring lightness to something that once felt dark and make a fun, freeing record out of the pain of the past,” she says.
The single signals Nalu’s shift into pop while remaining rooted in her R&B and soul foundations. “Mixing that pop energy with my R&B roots created this dreamy, floaty sound that I’ve really fallen in love with,” she shares. The release also reflects a period of personal evolution, balancing her 9–5 with her artistry. “Being independent means I get to own my sound and my space. This year really reminded me why I make music – I love it. It’s my gift.”
“Meteor” serves as the cosmic entry point to a larger project on the horizon. With renewed focus and creative freedom, Nalu is embracing this new chapter fully. “The world is my oyster right now, and I’m so grateful to be creating again.”
The single positions Nalu as an artist capable of blending introspection with pop sensibility, delivering music that uplifts, empowers, and connects.
