Johnny Mekoa’s contribution to the musical skill development of the youth definitely did not go unnoticed
Mabala Noise Entertainment would like to send their condolences to the family and friends of the late legendary jazz trumpeter, music educator and head of the Gauteng Music Academy, Johnny Mekoa.
“Johhny Mekoa was a steadfast example that we are an unstoppable people, and that if we persevere, we can achieve anything we set our minds to. His death is a huge loss for the South African music industry and we at Mabala Noise would like to send our sincere condolences to his family and friends,” expresses Reggie Nkabinde, Mabala Noise founder and owner.
“Johnny Mekoa’s contribution to the musical skill development of the youth definitely did not go unnoticed and as a label, we at Mabala Noise will strive to keep his mandate alive by continuing to work with and develop local artists,” further adds Thobela Dlamini, Mabala Noise Label Manager.
Johhny Mekoa was an inspiration to many as he was denied the opportunity to study music because he was black; yet continued to pursue his passion and never let go of his dream to be a musician and make a difference to the South African music industry till his death bed.
