Buhlebendalo Mda From The Soil Releases Her First Solo Album. The singer says the album is her expression of her being her ancestors’ wildest dream.

Buhlebendalo Mda of the music band ‘The Soil’ dropped her first solo album titled ‘Chosi’. The singer says the album is her expression of her being her ancestors’ wildest dream. The singer became a sangoma in 2016, the singer says her path was the inspiration for the album.

“I feel like I have been hiding the truest part of myself for such a long time, and through this album I feel I am colliding with myself. I’ve been on a journey of self-realisation and I am loving myself anew. Chosi is the story of meeting my truest self. Chosi in my language is what you say to introduce a story,” says Buhlbendalo Mda. The 1/3 of ‘The Soil’ says her journey has taught her to not hold back because she was afraid of chasing her fans away with the way she using her voice.

The singer says that people would not have had the chance to listen to the album if it wasn’t for her ancestral calling. “It is that journey that opened up the parts of myself that created this work. My ancestors gave me the boldness to share. I’m no longer afraid to be me and show my African spirituality,” says Buhlebendalo Mda.
