Music producer DJ Maphorisa doesn’t seem to have the same issue as other musicians in South Africa due to gigs being cancelled during the lockdown. Some South African artists have been having an issue with money, with others feeling that the money from the relief fund is not enough. However, DJ Maphorisa has been spending his money.
The music producer was part of the group of people that asked the president to open up the entertainment industry. While some people thought that the musician was doing it because he also wanted the income, the musician sems like he was doing it for his other fellow musicians. He let it be known after a social media user reacted to a photo his after buying brands from Sandton’s Diamond Walk. “…celebrities sometimes earlier you were complaining that Entertainment must be opened you can’t do that and that and now this…,” says the social media user. DJ Maphorisa responded to the social media user by telling the user that he is sorted when it comes to money.
“I am sorted with racks I have gang of bags for days, I was saying the whole country is suffering…I have a plan. I think for other people get it…I am not selfish…If I want to I can go to [Diamond Walk] everyday…,” says DJ Maphorisa. Social media users stood up for the music producer too by agreeing with him.
