GHANAIAN SONGSTRESS CHAYUTA, IMPRESSES MZANSI WITH NEW SINGLE ‘WHERE YOU DEY’

Rising Ghanaian singer-songwriter Chayuta(19), is fast becoming one of South Africa’s most-loved R&B singers, since the release of her single “Where You Dey”. The afro-pop infused single, produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Killbeatz, is the singer’s label-debut single under Nayasa Records.

“I’m really excited about my new journey with my label and, of course, being granted the opportunity to release my music in South Africa. My dad is actually South African and to see my music video play on TV channels in the country and featured on online platforms is truly a blessing.”

Describing her music as a mix of contemporary R&B and Afro Pop, the Accra-based songstress is currently learning how to produce her own music, working with some established names in the African Music Industry such as Mix Master Garzy (notable for work with artists like Stonebwoy, Patoranking, Davido and more) and Afro-beats star, Kelvyn Boy, of whom, is one of Ghana’s finest Reggae/dancehall artists.

“It’s very important that I learn how to produce my own music and collaborate with the best artists on the continent. A collaboration with a few South African artists such as Focalistic, Dj Maphorisa, Nasty C, Uncle Waffles and Aymos would really be amazing too.”

At the tender age of 9, Chayuta began showing an interest in music and spent the first 6 years of her life between Belgium, the Netherlands, UK and South Africa. Previous releases from ‘Ghana’s Sweetheart’, as labeled by Ghanaian fans include, a single and music video entitled Solo and Gimme Love, which she recorded an acoustic version with renowned multiple Grammy award winner, D’wayne Wiggins of Tony Toni Tone.

In 2010, she relocated to Ghana with her Ghanaian mother and is currently pursuing a degree in Public Relations. Listing the likes of Rihanna as one of her inspirations and expressing her adoration of the singer’s versatility, Chayuta often undergoes vocal training to hone her singing skills which, in turn, has helped her develop a distinct and unique sound.

The goal for Chayuta isn’t only to become one of the biggest musicians in the world, but also to become a smart business woman and philanthropist.
