The Man Who Is Supposedly Behind The Famous ‘John Vuli Gate’ Dance
The Man Who Is Supposedly Behind The Famous ‘John Vuli Gate’ Dance. The #JohnVuliGateChallenge has been making rounds on social media.
The #JohnVuliGateChallenge has been making rounds on social media. The challenge was influenced by a video of young women from Mpumalanga who were dancing to the track titled ‘John Vuli Gate’ at a petrol station. However, the dance supposedly didn’t start with the girls.
The dance was supposedly started by Limpopo dancer Bujwa. The dancer says that the dance moves started with a dance that he created called the #SdudlaDance, which was also turned into a challenge. “Sdudla dance is a dance that was formed jokingly, I was teasing this big friend of mine in a club one night, I then later took it to the South African State Theatre where my fanbase was huge still is to date and then that’s when the public fell in love with it. We then created a hashtag that got the country going at the time,” Bujwa told Zaleb.
He then went on to say that a song that suits the dance style came about, which is the ‘John Vuli Gate’ track. Then South African people went on to use the Sdudla dance with some using #JohnVuliGateChallenge. He is happy that people recognise his work, even though he is not given credit. Bujwa is also a permanent dancer for TshiVenda artist Makhadzi, he has been working alongside the artist for over 3 years.
